Home Chat ("we", "our", or "the application") is a private integration built to interface Google Chat with local home automation systems. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information processed by this integration.
2. Information We Process
When you interact with Home Chat in Google Chat, the application may process:
- User Profile Information: Display name and email address provided by Google Chat webhook events, used strictly to verify that the sender is an authorized household member.
- Message Content: The text of commands sent directly to the bot or mentioned in a space, used solely to execute the requested home automation action.
3. How Information Is Used
The information processed is used exclusively to:
- Authenticate whether the user has permission to trigger home actions.
- Execute requested smart home commands (e.g., opening gates, status checks).
- Return status replies directly to the originating Google Chat thread.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data is not shared with any third parties or advertisers. All interactions occur directly between Google Chat servers and our private self-hosted backend.
5. Data Retention & Security
Message payloads are processed in memory and are not stored in external databases. Transient operational logs on the host server may record incoming events for debugging and reliability purposes, and are rotated and deleted automatically.
